The Road to Redemption

I

Accused with lies
Grazed with deceits injustice
Distorted truth
Innocent.
Confronted with pain
Ripped with crimson scars
Violent embrace
Rejected.
Exhausted and fettered
Gashed with unforgiving hate
Tortured reputation
Reduced to nothing
And utterly despised
Condemned.

II

Ignorant of love
Draped in a purple cloak
Woven with ruby tears
Reviled
Suspended by darkness
Impaled on mocking thorns
Ridiculed torment
Passion
Bearing our pain
Crushed beneath the weight
Outpoured love
For splintered incision
And cruel nails
Acceptance.

III

He fell
Paralyzing pain
Experiencing our weakness
Abandoned
Unable to stand
Enveloped in the struggle
Brutal treatment
Helpless
Shouldering the weight
Stricken with affliction
Desolate moments
From earthly dirt
And human fallibility
Exhausted.

IV

He met her eyes
The gaze of sweet compassion
Mothers anguish
Love
Beyond spoken words
The natural grace of substance
Taste tenderness
Selflessness
For love she beheld
In the mystery of redemption
Blissful vision
Poured out worthiness
And sacrificed wholeness
Embrace

V

In failing moments
Sharing the despised humiliation
Hurtful tribulation
Encounter
Every natural compassion
Transformed by the mocking crowd
Mercilessly scorned
Rejected
Carry the weight
Receive the heavy affliction
Suffering shared
For heavens glory
And tender presence
Burdened.

VI

Kindness and mercy
His face tortured in dust
Burning ordeal
Courage
Pain and distress
His face knowing the sorrow
Encountering death
Vanquished
Malice and insults
Hurled in his face
Determined compassion
Beneath changing appearances
And outward bruises
Expression

VII

Prince of life
Kiss the hard ground
Abandoned struggle
Prostrate
Bereft of heaven
Ceased to function
Stretched inside
Powerless
Human weakness
Evidence of earthly shell
Flakes of flesh
Forward to death
And sufferings hill
Onward

VIII

Tears of lamentation
Flowing rivers that weep
Condemned fidelity
Ordained
Tears of the guilty
Held in crystal vials
Heavens treasure
Kept
Precious surrender
Wrapped in blessed goodness
Perfect innocence
For heart breaks prayer
And sacrifices sweat
Intercession.

IX

Here is his weakness
To bear the yoke of all
Trampled down
Afflicted
How frail he is
How fragile in the fight
His face in the earth
Numbness
Gracious and merciful
In fragility and weak
Conscious of his nature
With a willing heart
And promised inclination
Despised

X

Exposed and shamed
Stripped of personal worth
Visibly degraded
Vulnerable
Dignity lost
Humbled before hostile eyes
Voluntarily given
Revealed
Preciously loved
Held in determined care
Given to the purpose chosen
Now religiously stripped
And viciously humbled
Humiliated

XI

Iron rips into flesh
Crimson streams seep in gushing agony
Intense pain
Torn
Hate driven home
Elevated for every eye to see
Sins wounds
Atonement
Eternal redemption
The predestined sacrifice
Bleeding in wraths rivers
Crushed for my rebellion
And for my reconciliation
Nailed.

XII

Slowly in agony
Pain in every sinew and fibre
Innocent suffering
Pierced
It is finished
The final breath
Last gasp
Release
The curse is broken
The law made obsolete
The price is paid
Help us to understand what love means
And the grace provided
Redemption

XIII

Detached from the cross
Limp, empty, unbroken body
Moment of salvation
Accomplished
His pierced heart
Speaks of outpoured love
Victory in death
Accomplished
His open side
The uttermost depth
Of counting the cost
For sin is eternally forgiven
And the war is over
Accomplished

XIV

Now is the time
Wrapped in a linen cloth
Suffering ended
Silence
Gave himself for us
Precious gift of love
Sealed in the tomb
Silence
Surpassing knowledge
Beyond human reckoning
Goodness touching mankind
For love too great to comprehend
And given beyond compare
Contemplate
